Crystalens accommodating lens reviews
In the discussion that followed, moderator Thomas Kohnen, MD, Ph D, from the University of Frankfurt, Germany, asked if Dr Ang had performed all of the capsulotomies himself. The panel of three experts named Dr Ang's study the best of the 14 presented in their session.
"The important thing is that it was a long-term study," Dr Kohnen told .
The Morcher Bio Com Fold Type 43E, Human Optics 1 CU, Lenstec Tetra Flex, and eyeonics crystalens are examples of single-optic IOLs.
Single-optic, accommodating IOLs function by changing their position in the capsular bag during accommodative effort with a resulting increase in the effective power but not the inherent power of the lens.

Dr Ang randomly assigned patients to one of the three types of lens. At times his center had to provide transportation for elderly patients so he could review them at 1-year intervals.
After 5 years, 67 patients (134 eyes) remained in the study: 44 eyes in the Crystalens group, 48 in the Re Stor group, and 42 in the Tecnis group.
"The important thing is that there is not good or bad lens," said Robert Edward T.
PCO occurred more slowly in the Re Stor than in the other two lenses.
"The posterior part of the Re Stor lens has a square edge design that prevents the cells from growing," said Dr Ang.
This is because accommodative IOLs can potentially provide unaided near visual acuity without the optical aberrations and image degradation that may accompany multifocal IOL implantation.
Not only will this enhance cataract surgery results, but it will also enable refractive surgeons to offer their patients a procedure that is unhindered by the restrictions of corneal refractive surgery and presbyopia.
